The Classic Monologue Workshop

Ages 12 & up
Saturday 12 – 2pm / March 8th – April 26 (8 weeks) / Showcase Parade on final day of class.
In this class students will learn basic sewing skills as they construct a simple skirt and a tunic. They will also explore introductory concepts in costume design such as color, line, and fabric. Students will consider character, tone, setting, and relationships as they design and construct one costume from a favorite play or musical. Sewing machines and fabric will be provided.
Susan Pennington has been a costumer in both St. Louis and Ojai, most recently winning a Four-star award for her costume work for Ojai Art Center Theater’s production of Fiddler On The Roof.

Ages 13 & up
Sunday 1:00-3:00 / March 9 – 30
This class will focus primarily on techniques used for on-camera performance. Veteran acting coach and author, Bonnie Forward, helps students understand the real-world applications of acting on-camera. From commercial work to TV and film; from audition techniques and cold readings to script memorization and character analysis, this class is for young actors whose goal is to one day work in the industry.
Ages 8 – 12
Wednesday 6-7pm / March 12 – April 30
John Medeiros will lead the OYES youth improvisational workshop. The class is designed to instill creativity, teamwork, and self-esteem. Students will learn basic principles of improvisation through games, vocal and movement exercises, and creative story-telling. This workshop is open to all students ages 8-12.
The eight-week improvisation workshop will meet Wednesdays from 6-7pm beginning March 12th and continuing through April 30th. Students will perform their very own improv show at 7pm on the final night of class.
